Yapral is a neighbourhood of Secunderabad, Telangana, India's north-eastern suburbs. It was
a village Panchayat until the mid-1980s, when it was absorbed into the Alwal Municipal
Corporation (MCA). The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was formed in 2007 when 12
municipalities, including Alwal, and eight village panchayats in and around Hyderabad
combined to form the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). Yapral has been a
member of GHMC since then (Neredmet Division, Malkajgiri Circle). Yapral was a small
community surrounded by farmland in the mid-1980s, with less than 3000 people. The
surrounding countryside was soon turned into a massive residential neighbourhood with
affluent, gated estates and high-rise residences. The hamlet itself underwent a similar
transformation, with most of the ancient dwellings being replaced with single- and

independence, Hyderabad served as the capital of the princely state of Hyderabad, which
hosted the British Residency and cantonment.
