Yakshagana is also known as Aata in Konkani and Kannada. Yaksha-Gana means the music (Gana) of a Yaksha. Yaksha-Gana translates as a Yaksha's song (Gana). Yakshas were an exotic tribe mentioned in ancient Indian Sanskrit literature. Holi is celebrated in Sirsi with a one-of-a-kind Carnival. The "Bedara Vesha" folk dance is done during the nights, starting five days before the actual festival day. Every other year, the town hosts the festival, which draws a massive crowd from all over India over five days.
