Cheranallur or Cheranellore or Cheranalloor is a suburb of Kochi city in Kerala, India, and
lies on the banks of the Periyar River. According to tradition, the area was named by its
earlier inhabitants, who found this place very
fertile and beautiful. The name in its local language, Malayalam, means "Good Village of
Cheras'.Cheranallur has two Famous
temples.
1)Cheranellore Bhagavathy temple (one among 108 Durga Temples) is
considered crucial as Chottanikkara Bhagavathi Temple.
2)Marapparambu Shiva Temple
(Swayambhu, Vaidyanatha Temple).
Both lie
on the sides of the New Vallarpadam National Highway. Chittoor Sreekrishna Swamy temple,
Vishnupuram Maha Vishnu temple, and Sree Kaleswari temple are also situated in Cheranalloor
Panchayath.

Highway to the Vallarpadam container terminal from Kalamassery passes through Cheranellore,
cutting the NH66, forming the only junction in this highway, which is considered one of the
most prominent junctions in the city. This
makes Cheranellore a hotspot as it connects Edappally, Kalamassery, Paravur, and Ernakulam.
The Cheranalloor ferry connects Eloor, Mannamthuruth, and Cheranallur. All three places are
bus terminals. Cheranallur is connected
to Ernakulam through Chittoor and Edappally, and Palarivattom. The National Highway 66,
which connects Cochin with Mumbai-Panvel, goes through Cheranalloor crossing the Vallarpadam
International Container National Highway 47C
(India) (the only junction between the two Highways. Therefore, the visitors can easily take
buses or travel cars to reach Cheranallur.
