Champdani is a city under the Hooghly district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It falls under the Bhadreswar police station in the Chandannagore subdivision. It is one of the parts of the area covered by the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). This town is mainly famous for six factories known as viz. the GIS Cotton Mill, Dalhousie Jute Mill, North Brook jute Mill, Angus Jute Mill, Champdany Garbage Refinery Ltd, Lagan engineering, and Braithwaite Ltd (Ministry of Railways).

The airport is well-known as the Kolkata Airport was formerly known as Dum Dum Airport before being renamed in 1995 to honour the memory of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
